Mattia Scheiwiller (they/them) was born in 1999 in St. Gallen. They work as a highschool music teacher and an independent musician in Zurich, leading and playing in different bands like Kleid, alt.ilda and Gamma Kite. In these bands, they write and compose, play the keys, synths, guitar and work as a vocalist. 

 

Mattia has a Bachelors Degree in Composition and a Masters Degree in Music Education at ZHdK from 2018-2024. They did their composition studies with Kaspar Ewald and took jazz piano lessons from Chris Wiesendanger.

 

In their creative work, Mattia strives to express themselves as honest and energetic as possible. That sometimes leads to eclectic noise, and sometimes to heart-string-plucking emotionality. They love to experiment with different genres, ideas and instruments, never shying away from trying out new ideas. Another important aspect in their work is trying to capture the rawness that comes from trying out something new and embracing imperfections.
