SHAKTI EDWARDS

Shakti is originally from the UK. She is a dance and drama teacher and workshop facilitator at Close Encounters Theater. Shakti is also a UK-accredited psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, counsellor, coach and trainer, with her own practice in Zürich (Transformations Zurich).

She trained at Elmhurst Ballet School, Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts (gaining a Diploma in Performing Arts) and at the Royal Scottish Conservatoire of Scotland, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Acting. Shakti has taught and worked professionally in Europe as an actor, singer dancer, choreographer and director.

Shakti has had the privilege of teaching and facilitating dance and drama classes and projects with students of all ages, from three to seventy-eight! Her theatrical career has given her the opportunity to script, choreograph and direct numerous shows.

In her work Shakti has seen,  both in individuals and communities, the social and psychological benefits of theatre-making, performance and ensemble building.

She takes delight in watching the growth and development of her students, both individually and as an ensemble, as they gain confidence in their abilities, learn to trust in themselves and one another, and find their artistic voice.

Shakti is grateful for the continual curiousity, playfulness and creativity generated by her parallel careers in therapy and the arts.
